Andrew Cobley

I have over 10 years experience working with startups and growing product companies. I am a lead product designer with a broad design skill set that overlaps with development and strategy.

I'm currently Senior Product Designer at Plain. A small startup building a better approach to customer support.

I previously worked at Hopin as a Staff Product Designer. I was responsible for product design, strategy, research, resource planning across multiple areas, and mentoring other designers.

Before that I was Senior Product Designer at Songkick. As well as being a lead product designer, I oversaw the creation, and adoption, of a design system for our mobile and web products.

I also worked directly with numerous founders of early stage startups across a variety of industries, while working for the product agency Simpleweb. It has been great to see the likes of OLIO reach over 5 millions users and raise their Series B.

I have previous experience as a front-end developer. My background in Computer Science means I am happy to get involved in more technical problem spaces, regardless of the whether the output is UI.

I am particularly interested in discussing founding or early lead design roles, with startups who are solving interesting, meaningful problems.

I see my immediate future as a individual contributer, so I am not currently looking to transition into a design manager. That said, I am happy to lead, work with and mentor other designers, as part of a senior IC role.

I am looking for a remote only role but will consider remote first roles with relaxed in-person requirements. I am currently based in London, UK and would prefer to work with companies in a similar timezone.

I am open minded when it comes to the potential industries and enjoy building knowledge in new domains. I am just looking to find a meaningful problem space, with a company, and founders, that values design as a partner.

Although not essential, it would be great to find a progressive company that might be open to a 4-day work week, or similar, in the future.
